I was talking to my friend Sherwin last night and told him about Our Third Acts. He laughed and said, “Third act? What about 4th and 5th acts?”
Sherwin is 69, an avid biker, marathoner and traveler. He retired from teaching June 2019, which was his third career. We met in 1979, both young engineers full of hope in the future of our promising careers.
Within a few years, we were both out of engineering, but that’s another story. The point is, I’ve known this man for more than half of my life and he’s one of the smartest people I know. When he says something, I listen.
So when he mentioned 4th and 5th acts, it got me to thinking. And you know what? He’s right. Who says we’re only limited to 3 acts? Who’s to say how many acts we can live during our lives?
I made a note to circle back and talk to him about 4th and 5th acts. But it will have to wait til he gets back from his summer travels — New York, Trinidad, London and maybe Germany. Stay tuned…
